Fundamentals Of
Biblical Communication
There were multiple things that I liked about this class. First it was a blended class, and therefore I got to go to the campus and interact with other students. Secondly, this class taught me how to actually prepare a sermon. In the past, I had spoken many times from the pulpit. However, a lot of those times, I was using a shotgun, when what I needed was a sniper rifle. In other words, I was all over the board; I included too much in my sermons, in order to not miss anything. This class taught me that less can be more; if done correctly. Finally, I am grateful for this class because it took the student out of the classroom and into the field.
Below, I have included two sermons that we were asked to prepare, deliver, and broadcast to the world. The thing that I found to be challenging about this situation, was being filmed during service, which is odd because I have been comfortable being filmed my entire life. Anyways, I am happy with the sermons. I see things that I could have done better, however; I also see things that I did right. It was a great learning experience.

The following sermon is a Textual sermon about 3 specific steps to take in order to press on from current or past pain and find happiness here and now in the present. The scripture is taken from Philippians 3:12-14 This next sermon is entitled "Pressing On."
The sermon was not inspired or borrowed by anyone else; this is completely my own, and what the Lord inspired me to talk about. I did however, use three of the AA steps to recovery in order to demonstrate my point. The requirements for the assignments were as follows:
I made a 90% on this assignment. It was a couple of days late, and therefore was docked 10%. On this particular assignment, I also used some of my video editing software; in order to provide the viewer with the scripture and outline.

This last sermon is an Expository Sermon entitled "Lead Us Not Into Temptation," on the three most common methods of Satan; in order to try and temp us. The three methods that he uses are the same three that he tried with Jesus in the wilderness. These three methods are the ", lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life" (1 John 2:15-17). It is in light of Jesus victory in the wilderness that we can use his approach as a blueprint to overcome our own temptations.
I ended up getting a 90% on this assignment as well. I was given an extension on this assignment, however; when the actual assignment was graded, the extension was forgotten (This is not typical procedure). Therefore, I took the hit and got 10% dock in the grade. Either way, I was very happy with the content of the sermon itself.
